SafeWork NSW visited 200+ workplaces in May and June 2026 and issued 80+ improvement notices. On 9 October they launched their biggest psychosocial compliance operation yet. Here’s the seven-point checklist every blue-collar employer needs to be inspection-ready — and where most small contractors currently fall short.

Most small employers hear “reasonably practicable” and think it means “do your best.” It doesn’t. It’s a specific legal test — and when you run a blue-collar worksite through it in 2026, the answer points to a daily documented system, not a policy folder and a phone number on the wall.

A supervisor who had a quiet word with a struggling worker last month did the right thing. But if there is no record of that conversation, then as far as an inspector is concerned, it didn't happen. Employers who win psychosocial claims share one thing in common: documented, ongoing records — not policies, not posters, not good intentions.
